Distribution: This species lives entirely on Magagascar's North Western coastline within an area of 20,000-50,000 kmē. The species is not believed to low enough for the IUCN Red List (less than 10,000) but is declining slowly numerically.

Identification The Madagascar jacana Actophilornis albinucha has the same colors as the African jacana, but with the neck and head colors exactly reversed.
